General Ramblings for Monday

I haven't much to blog about today, so I'll ramble.  Read on, if you dare :-)

First off, I've been catching up on Hell's Kitchen.  I only have last week's episode to go and I'll be caught up - I don't get Fox on my satellite so I have to watch it on the internet.  My sister will also record it for me and then I can watch it when I'm at her house.  My thoughts?  I'm so glad Roj is gone.  He was a strange duck - that's all I can say.  My opinion only, the guy is definitely diagnosable.   Sabrina?  I want her gone.  Or maybe she already is - like I said, I'm a week behind.  She is completely hateful - I don't know what made her that way, or maybe that's just how she's "playing the game", but I won't cry when (not if!) Chef Ramsey sends her home.

Biggest Loser?  I don't have any favorites yet this season - but I'm not a fan of Burgundy anymore.  I was so happy when she made it on, but her poor sportsmanship and temper tantrums have left me sour.  I understand it's a game, but I also think you that there's a way to treat people - and if you don't for some reason, an apology can go a long way.

I finished Seaside Letters by Denise Hunter and loved it.  This book probably has one of the best final chapters of any book I've ever read - seriously.  I now am torn on what to move on to.  I'm thinking maybe "The First Snowdrop" by Mary Balogh or "Simply Irresistible" by Jill Shalvis. I started Jill's book last night, but I have that little voice inside that keeps trying to sway me to Mary's book.  Decisions, decisions!

Speaking of books - the unthinkable has happened. I'm cleaning through my bookshelves!!  My genealogy stacks are building back up and I need to get some shelves devoted specifically to that - right now I have 4 shelves full of books and I hope to get it down to three.  I've spent 2 days on this project so far and have cleaned out from A-F. I have one large box of books to show for it.  Now, what to do with the books?  My initial game plan was to donate them all to the library.  They resell the books for $0.50 each and then use the money they make to buy new books - nothing wrong with that!  Then I thought about posting them on paperbackswap, but it takes a lot of time and rarely are there books that I post that are waitlisted...and I want them gone!  My library is a huge bunch of clutter right now.  Then, on Friday I stumbled across a blogger that was giving away her old books - 3 at a time every week.  I'm tempted, but that would cost a lot of money in postage.  Which brings me back to my original idea of donating them.

I watched "Call of the Wild" this weekend with J.   It was a terrific movie and very family-friendly.  Of course, it doesn't hurt that parts of it were filmed in Montana ~ Phillipsburg, to be exact. Phillipsburg is called "The Painted Town" of Montana and is about a 4 hour drive from where I live.  It is one of my favorite places to visit - just a pretty little town with the largest candy store and sapphire shop in the state.

My mom just got back from Minnesota last week.  She toured some cemeteries and took some pictures of the headstones of some relatives (namely by g-g-grandparents on the Hughes/Schofield side) at the Lakeside Cemetery by Park Rapids.  I cannot wait to see them and get them scanned in to my computer!!!

Finally, food accountability?  None.  Now I'm trying to talk myself into going back to Weight Watchers so that I don't feel the need to be so hard on myself.  Why can't there be the perfect plan for me where I don't have to weigh and measure my foods, can eat everything I want to (in moderation), and still lose the weight??  Oh right.  That's how I gained the weight in the first place.

I always check Amazon.com to see if my books are worth anything before donating them. I have recouped my cost a couple of times on genealogy books. Besides it's great to have the extra cash to buy more genealogy stuff! It doesn't cost you anything to list them only . You don't pay any fees until after a book sells. I've bought & sold books there since 2005 and have been very pleased. Might be worth checking out.

I think donating them is a good idea, Dev :P Especially at the library.

Hmmm, I don't usually watch Hell's Kitchen, but I caught last week's episode... and Sabrina is so immature! I don't think she's going to last on the show for much longer.

I'm reading Simply Irresistible and I think it's very cute :P

I watch Hell's Kitchen. And there are a few strange ducks on the show. Sabrina is such a crazy person!

Janice ~ I keep all of my genealogy books - I have written histories of my Norwegian and English families, plus lots of area genealogical books. I couldn't ever part with them :-)

Nath ~ I ended up donating them. Just at the right time because the Friends of the Library sale is this weekend.

Ames ~ Very much so. There's a few strange eggs on this year.

Sabrina has quite a mouth on her! I was sad to see Raj go ... he was such a loser! Ha!

There are still too many on "The Biggest Loser" for me to be cheering for anyone. None of them have really grabbed me yet.
